Grand Huts Association Formed

This past spring, a group of individuals in Grand County formed the Grand Huts Association (GHA). Their mission is to enhance backcountry cabin rental opportunities in the forests of Grand County by providing recreational cabins accessible to the non-motorized community. The group plans to fix up and make available huts that are already constructed but not currently in use. GHA also plans to build new structures.

At this point GHA is preparing a master plan and completing administrative duties. Their first targets are First Creek Cabin and Twin Creek Cabin. First Creek Cabin is located on the north side of Berthoud Pass along First Creek. Twin Creek is located on the eastern shore of Lake Granby. GHA is considering refurbishing/rebuilding and managing other huts including Second Creek, Baker Cabin, Junko Lake, and Peter Rabbit.
