- Breckenridge Ski Resort Proposes Major Expansion
Your Letters Needed by February 17. Already the second largest ski resort in Colorado , Breckenridge has proposed to expand to the north, onto Peak 6. The expansion would: destroy an excellent backcountry skiing area, as well as fragment habitat for lynx and other species, invade an area considered to have outstanding ecological values, and exacerbate existing traffic and affordable housing shortage problems. - Silverton Mountain, located outside of Silverton,
Colorado, will open as a new backcountry ski area this winter.
A single lift will serve a limited number of skiers per day allowing
them to access challenging terrain not normally found at a ski
