Molas Pass: Molas Pass Winter Recreation Management Plan Released - YOUR SUPPORT NEEDED
Molas Pass, located in the San Juan National Forest, has experienced conflicts between motorized and non-motorized winter users during the last few years. The Molas Pass Winter Recreation Management Plan, which will take effect this winter, will set aside an area around Andrews Lake for nonmotorized winter recreation only, continue to allow motorized winter recreation on the majority of public lands on Molas Pass, provide stricter guidelines for permitted clubs and businesses that use Molas Pass for organized or commercial winter recreation, and call for future construction of roadside parking areas, more directional and informational signs, and increased agency presence to enforce regulations and monitor use.
